Lloydkade 1951 Salawaku Heavyweight Tee

In the spring of 1951, approximately 12,500 Moluccan KNIL soldiers and their families arrived in the Netherlands. Disembarking at ports like Rotterdam's Lloydkade, they stepped into a cold, uncertain exile, temporarily housed in former transit camps (woonoorden). They carried with them a profound sense of duty, betrayal, and an unbreakable cultural pride. This design centers the Parang and Salawaku—the traditional Moluccan machete and shield—symbols of ancestral courage and protection. It honors the first generation who endured the unimaginable, and the subsequent generations who have kept the Maluku spirit, rhythm, and identity fiercely alive in the diaspora.
